Name: General Iroh
Voiced By: Mako, Greg Baldwin
Age: 60-something
Occupation: Being Zuko's Uncle
Nicknames/Aliases: Uncle, The Dragon of the West, The Best Teamaker In Ba Sing Se
Loves: Zuko, Tea, Pai Sho, Music, Lovely Women (Probably in that order.)
Distinguishing Characteristics: He has a deep sense of loyalty, love, and an understanding of spirituality. He's a silver-tongued devil who has an eccentric charm that everyone finds infectious - everyone but Zuko, that is. Most important: Iroh is wise beyond anyone on earth.
Since the death of his only child, Lu Ten, Iroh considers Zuko his son. Abused and rejected by his father, Zuko has had to rely on Iroh to be the father-figure he so desperately needs, even if he doesn't realize it.
Iroh has dedicated the last three years of his life to helping his nephew capture the Avatar. He has tried to steer his stubborn nephew down a road of goodness, wanting only a life of peace and prosperity for Zuko.
It is because of Iroh's strong connections as a retired, respected Fire Nation General, his unique wisdom, and because Iroh is a Pai Sho Grand Master and esteemed member of The Order of the White Lotus, that Zuko has managed to survive in a world that views him as a dangerous menace and an outcast.
Despite his enduring presence as a beloved series main character, we're given
very little information about Iroh.
- We know very little about his son, Lu Ten, who died in the war.
- We know nothing of his wife, not even her name.
- We know nothing of the seeming conspiracy to dethrone him.
- We know nothing of The Order of the White Lotus, an exclusive, well-connected group of elite members who hold secret meetings and who lurk in the shadows in cities, towns, and villages throughout the world.
It is the mysteries surrounding Iroh that make him such an intriguing character.
